The brick factory near the rail line has been empty long enough for several generations of residents to stop noticing it. A redevelopment proposal has changed that. The building could become a mix of apartments, studios, and small commercial spaces.

Supporters see a chance to preserve a recognizable piece of industrial history while adding activity to an underused area. Neighbors are asking more immediate questions: how many units would be affordable, how would trucks enter the site, and what is in the soil?

The proposal still needs environmental review and local approvals. The details of those reviews will determine whether the building gets a second life or remains a landmark viewed through a chain-link fence.
