The shelter on Washington Avenue now has something to look at while people wait. A rotating set of panels features work by local artists, with each piece connected to a person, place, or memory from the surrounding blocks.

The project started as a way to make a plain shelter feel cared for. It also gives artists a public platform that does not require a gallery opening or an admission fee.

Transit officials are collecting feedback on the installation as they consider similar projects at other stops. The practical needs remain the same: shade, seating, lighting, and reliable arrival information.
